What to put in a Preserves Jar when throughput matters
Jelly and Pickles use the same core formula: twice the input base price plus 50g before an Artisan bonus. That fixed amount and a shorter cycle can make Jars valuable even when a Keg produces the higher price per item.
Price the input you actually have
Use the same stack, quality, and deadline you would use on your farm. The calculator shows whether the fixed 50g bonus and three-morning cycle add value over selling that input raw.
Jar processing time favors throughput
The added 50g matters proportionally more on a low-base-price crop. When Kegs are occupied by expensive fruit, Jars can turn lower-value stacks into useful incremental profit instead of leaving the entire harvest idle.
One item becomes one Jar batch
Unlike the five-item Dehydrator recipe, each Jelly or Pickles job consumes one input. The planner can therefore clear odd inventory counts without a batch remainder, provided enough three-morning machine slots remain.
Compare the fleet, not only one machine
A Jar recommendation does not mean Jars always beat Kegs. It means the current mixed fleet can earn more by using both capacities. The shared optimizer keeps each crop unit in exactly one route.

What formula does the Preserves Jar calculator use?
For modeled Jelly and Pickles routes, the base output is twice the input base price plus 50g, then the Artisan profession bonus is applied when selected.
How many items does one Jar batch consume?
Each modeled Jelly or Pickles job consumes one input item and uses a three-morning cycle, so odd quantities do not create a batch remainder.
How long does a Preserves Jar take?
Modeled Jelly and Pickles batches use three morning checks. Caviar uses the separate cycle shown in the result, so the deadline can change which route is useful.
Can a high-quality crop still be a poor Jar input?
Yes. The finished product does not preserve the input quality, so the raw sale value of a Silver, Gold, or Iridium crop can make another stack the better choice.
Is Caviar included?
Sturgeon Roe and Caviar are included in the current catalog. Other fish-pond or mod-specific routes may still be outside the 1.6.x scope.
