What to put in Kegs

Use the Keg that is free this morning, not a static tier list

Review every formula →

Wine usually wins on value for expensive fruit, but a Keg decision changes when the input is a vegetable, the crop is Gold quality, or you need the machine back before a festival. This page shows the ranking and lets you test your own stack in the same view.

01

Sort by machine morning when the shed is full

Added gold per item answers “what sells for more?” Added gold per occupied morning answers “what should use the next free Keg?” Both numbers are shown because they answer different farm questions.

02

Quality is an opportunity cost

Wine and Juice do not preserve crop quality. A Gold or Iridium crop therefore gives up more raw-sale value than a Normal crop even when the finished drink price is unchanged.

03

The table is a shortlist, not a promise

The ranking assumes one clean batch and a fixed profession. Use the stack checker below—or the full planner—when several crops compete for the same Kegs or arrive on different days.

Model scope: unmodded Stardew Valley 1.6.x · crop, brew, mushroom, honey, Raisin, and Caviar routes · one morning check per day · machines start empty on Day 0 · Casks are not included.

How the plan is made

A Keg list is useful only when it respects time and the input you can replace.

01

Count real capacity

Every batch occupies a real machine until the morning collection day shown in the plan.

02

Protect opportunity cost

Quality and the selected profession path change what the exact input stack would sell for raw. Artisan includes the Tiller crop bonus where it applies.

03

Common questions

Before you load the shed

See privacy details →
What is the best thing to put in a Keg?

There is no universal answer. Expensive fruit often creates the most gold per item, while faster brews can create more gold per occupied morning. Choose the sort that matches your bottleneck, then test the exact stack below the ranking.

Should I sort by profit per item or per day?

Use profit per item when the crop is scarce. Use profit per occupied morning when your Kegs are the bottleneck or you need the machines back quickly. ValleyMath keeps both measures visible.

Does crop quality change the Keg recommendation?

Yes. Keg outputs do not preserve crop quality, while selling the crop raw does. Silver, Gold, and Iridium inputs therefore give up more raw value than Normal inputs.

Is Wine always better than Juice?

No. Wine usually has the higher final price for fruit, but Juice can finish sooner. A short deadline or a full queue can make the faster route more useful.

Can the table account for my actual stack?

Yes. Enter the item, quantity, quality, profession, available Kegs, and deadline. The stack result counts complete batches, leaves the remainder raw, and can be moved into the full mixed-inventory planner.
