Profit calculation explained
Measure the gain from processing, not the size of the chest
Gross revenue rises whenever more items are entered, even if the production decision is poor. ValleyMath instead compares the finished plan with the value of selling the exact same processable inventory raw.
The baseline is a real alternative
Raw baseline value includes crop quality and the selected farming profession. It excludes Keep quantities because those units are not part of the decision. This makes extra profit a direct comparison between two uses of the same inventory.
Leftovers still have value
Crops that cannot fit into the selected horizon remain in the backlog and are valued at their raw sale price in final sale value. They are not treated as lost, processed, or silently carried into a later period.
The deadline changes the answer
Seven, fourteen, and twenty-eight days expose different machine constraints. A long Keg cycle may be best over four weeks while a faster route can win a short deadline because it completes more profitable batches in time.
Model scope: unmodded Stardew Valley 1.6.x · crop, brew, mushroom, honey, Raisin, and Caviar routes · one morning check per day · machines start empty on Day 0 · Casks are not included.
How the plan is made
A high sale price is not the same thing as a profitable production plan.
Count real capacity
Every batch occupies a real machine until the morning collection day shown in the plan.
Protect opportunity cost
Quality and the selected profession path change what the exact input stack would sell for raw. Artisan includes the Tiller crop bonus where it applies.

Common questions
Before you load the shed
How do I calculate artisan goods profitability?
Compare the finished product value with the quality-adjusted raw sale value of the exact inputs consumed. ValleyMath shows that incremental difference and keeps unfinished batches in the raw-value baseline.
What raw sale value does the profit calculator use?
The baseline includes input quality and any eligible Tiller crop bonus. Selecting Artisan keeps Tiller because Artisan is reached through that profession path. This is the value you give up by processing the exact same units instead of shipping them raw.
Does the result show gross revenue or incremental profit?
The main result is incremental profit from processing. Final sale value, raw leftovers, and reserved value remain visible so you can audit the full outcome.
Which planning horizons are available?
Choose 7, 14, or 28 days. A shorter horizon favors faster cycles, while a longer horizon gives slow but valuable Keg routes more time to finish.
What happens to batches that do not fit before the deadline?
They remain in backlog and keep their raw sale value. The calculator never treats an unfinished batch as completed revenue.
